It’s all about me!

me and the boyfriendWhen she was messing around looking through things for her website, Liz happened upon the old bio. And she thought, Oh, my, things have changed since then, haven’t they? Well, some things, anyway.

Let me see, she’s still married to Duane-over 40 years now!-and they have the same three kids and three kids-in-law and more cats than they want and oh, there are seven grandchildren now, the Magnificent Seven.

Duane and Liz still live in the house back the lane, but she doesn’t work for the Post Office anymore. She retired in 2011, promptly gained 15 pounds-she swears it was overnight-and promised The Seven she would make each of them a bed-size quilt. She also planned to write all day, every day.

What was she thinking?

Well, she’s learned to write when she feels like it, sew when she feels like it, and maybe even to eat a little less. Okay, a lot less, but she hasn’t by any means mastered that part. She’s gone back to school, where, yes, she is far and away the oldest kid in class. She’s considering, however, that she might become a dropout. After all, she’s never been one and it’s bound to be fun curling up in the corner of the couch with her Kindle when she really, really should be studying.

She’s learned to share the house and sometimes even the kitchen with Duane. He doesn’t touch her computer and she doesn’t touch the remote control, so peace and happiness reign. She’s on Quilt Number Seven. It will be pretty. Eventually. But for right now, it has triangles, and Liz should have known she wouldn’t be good at triangles. They are geometric, and geometry gave her even more sophomore-year-in-high-school angst than not having a boyfriend did. Damn triangles.

She’s still writing books and essays, still traveling whenever she gets the chance. And she’s having a very, very good time.

  1. Thank you for visiting my blog! Reading about you here made me wonder if I knew you. LOL. I’ve been married over 40 years, and I’ve gained some in the past few years. And yes, I’ve been a dropout. Anyway, it’s nice to meet you.
